Stage 2 - Lymphedema - Mild
Definition: Spontaneously irreversible, very little pitting, some skin changes, fibrotic pitting swelling. Swelling and compression is difficult to maintain or manage. Need CDT to reduce.
- Day Compression:
-
Compression choice:
Class 2:
- (30-40 mmHg) circular knit / seamless (ready to wear)
- Indicated due to the volume of limb swelling and reduced fibrosis in the skin
Class 2:
- (23-32 mmHg) flat knit / seamed (made to measure)
- Indicated due to the volume of limb swelling and reduced fibrosis in the skin
Class 3:
- (40-50 mmHg) circular knit / seamless (ready to wear)
- Indicated maintains normal anatomical and fully decongested shape(see BMI)
Containment choice:
Juzo Move
- Circular knit / seamless product options: Move AD (knee), Move AG (thigh)
- Indicated for low stretch and more containment
- Max sizing
Juzo Dynamic
- Circular knit / seamless product options: Dynamic AD (knee) AG (thigh), AT (Panty)
- Indicated for “heaviness” of limb
- Max sizing
Juzo Expert
- Flat knit / seamed product options: Expert AD (knee), Expert AG (thigh), Expert AT (pantyhose)
- Indicated for low stretch with higher containment to break down fibrosis, high BMI and ADL’s and odd shape limb, cotton for sensitive skin, or silver for antimicrobial protection of the garment
- Night Compression:
-
Optional:
Wearing night compression can optimize treatment outcomes. A night garment is unnecessary if there is no fibrosis and the swelling is fully resolved. The knit garment should maintain the limb's current size.- Product options: Reversa AB (foot), BD (calf), DF (knee), FG (thigh), SoftCompress AD (Calf Liner) , SoftCompress (Roll)
- Indicated to be worn with SoftCompress, the Reversa is a short stretch wrap with high working and low resting pressure. It is also for patients experiencing difficulty reaching or inability to manage knit garments.
- Product options: SoftCompress Short-Stretch Bandage
- Indicated for the reduction of volume and fibrosis
- Tips:
-
- Pitting present day and night, easily reduced with treatment within 1-2 weeks with compliance.
- Therapad can be used under garments & bandages to breakdown fibrosis.
- Expert - Can be used to pair with various styles: BG, CT, CG, FT, BT, (see Expert & Strong Product Guide).
- Can use Strong if further containment is needed.
- Consider sensation for night use.
- Daytime garments hold decongested sizes; if not, increase the material that offers higher containment.
- Flat knit: choose a comfort patch, knee dart & slant top.
- Reversa compression wrap can be an alternative garment solution for daytime patient wear
- USA Only: Use of a pressure monitor can accurately give pressure objectives
